Social Dynamics Superconference
⊆ May 29th, 2008 by river | ˜ No Comments »Well it’s been a bit crazy over the last week or so, to say the least! I’ve just come back from an international event held here in the UK for only the second time. It’s focus was on social dynamics, that is- how people react in groups, it also covers evolutionary psychology, body language and personality profiling. I’ve crammed so much information into my brain, that the world is spinning!
Now i’ve always been really into ‘the human computer’ that is our genetic/evolutionary programming, it’s this code that governs how we act most of the time, unconsciously. When you start to break down this logic, you start to realise that I lot of behaviour is justified from a evolutionary perspective, even if it doesn’t make sense logically.
We are highly sophisitcated machines, our goal being to surive and pass on our genes in the most efficient way possible - whilst making the least costly mistakes. These drivers operate all the time at some level, affecting our interactions at an unconscious level. It’s amazing stuff….
I’ll post more on this soon, but for now you could check out the work by David Buss, who has written extensively on this subject.
