Information is being processed more and more before reaching our physical senses. Likewise, our interactions are being processed digitally prior to their reception. We have added a new
level of digital encoding and decoding which is changing our experience of reality. What is real anymore? Am I the processed information you receive, or the unencoded intention?
Like a house of many rooms, each of which representing a different identity. Once entered the individual accepts the starring role, playing the part and living as though that is their purpose and destiny. However the show may only last for fleeting moments, as we transition between rooms as our social interactions dictate. That transition defines the illusion we cast. Our integrity is directly proportional to the elegance of our transitions.
The soul lies beneath the mask of identity; it is that which is truly unchanging. In a world in which we search for certainty, our identities often lay broken on the floor, like porcelain masks shattered to a million pieces. It is the soul that binds these masks together, forming the centre of our own unique solar system around which everything revolves.
We paint portraits of what we sense, often encompassing glimpses of many identities, like the Mona Lisa, which is ambiguous because we sense more than what is being conveyed by the sitter. In this case the painter has made available the transition rather than the identity. It’s the transition which hints at the soul like a solar eclipse. We watch in wonder as the identity emerges like the moon from its momentary disappearance.
